A 40 minute cello lessons is perfect for mid-level students or for adults who have either learned earlier in their lives, or want plenty of time to work on their skills during lesson.

For players who have been learning a little longer, or who have mastered the basic aspects of good posture, tone production and a good practice routine, longer lessons are within their capabilities.

Online lessons can be a great asset to busy parents and their children, or for adult cellists who have been playing for some years.

40 minute cello lesson benefits

As we gain more facility playing the cello, we require longer lesson times to cover the various musical techniques required for our expanded repertoire. For some older school students, their lessons may include Music Theory, or working on repertoire they play in orchestras at school or in the community.

Likewise, although I don’t suggest AMEB exams, some students enjoy working towards the milestones that these exams can represent, and my past students have achieved very good grades. So I am more than happy to teach that syllabus in supplement to the Suzuki repertoire.

As my appreciation of the Suzuki philosophy deepens, I continue to find more reasons why I focus on it. Unfortunately, I am unable to teach students who solely want to focus on other repertoire.

Cello lesson terms

Price includes GST.
Booked lessons are non-refundable or transferable.
There are 9 lessons per term (following school terms roughly), and these need to be booked in advance (select 9 units).

Preparation for 40 minute cello lessons

To begin lessons, you’ll need to have:
*dedicated time of 20-30 minutes each day for practice
*dedicated time of 10 minutes each day for listening
*weekly lesson of 40 minutes (for children, parent will be present for all lessons)
*dedicated space to practice
*a chair/stool of the correct height (seat level to the back of the student’s knees)
*a music stand
*the capacity to buy additional technical albums and music
*facilities to play music – preferably sound system (rather than phone)
